Eat healthy

Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole wheat grain, use healthy oils such as monounsaturated oils and stay away from saturated oils and trans- fats. Add plenty of fiber to your diet and take the right amount of protein. Take 400 micrograms of Folic acid daily.​

Stay active

Try to get 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise each week. Consistency is the key. Reach and maintain a healthy weight. Try to stay away from infections and make sure that your vaccination shots are up to date.​

​Reduce your levels of stress and stay mentally healthy

Try practicing a form of meditation and be aware of how you react to stressful situations. This alone can dramatically reduce your stress levels.​

Before getting pregnant, talk to your doctor. Your doctor will discuss your health history and any medical conditions you currently have that could affect a pregnancy. He or she also will discuss any previous pregnancy problems, medicines that you currently are taking, vaccinations that you might need, and steps you can take before pregnancy to prevent certain birth defects.​

Manage your medical conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, asthma or weight issues.​
